1. Who we are

Succession Group operates a marketplace connecting business owners preparing for succession or sale with prospective buyers, along with tools to help estimate a business's value. This policy applies to all information collected through our website and related services.

2. Information we collect

Account information

When you register, we collect your email address and a password (stored in encrypted form). We do not require your name, phone number, or physical address to create an account.

Business listing information

If you list a business for sale, we collect the details you provide about that business, which may include the business name, industry, location, years trading, employee count, revenue, EBITDA, asking price, a written description, reason for sale, and any photos or financial documents you choose to upload (such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, or management accounts).

Valuation tool information

Our Quick Valuation and Detailed Valuation tools collect financial and operational details about a business (such as revenue, earnings, customer concentration, and management structure) in order to generate an indicative valuation estimate. You may use these tools without creating an account, in which case this information is not linked to a persistent profile.

Communications

If you contact us or enquire about a listing, we collect the information you include in that message, such as your email address and the content of your enquiry.

Technical information

Like most websites, we automatically collect limited technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, typically through standard server logs and session cookies needed to keep you logged in.

3. Why we collect this information

• To create and manage your account
• To publish and display business listings you submit
• To review and verify listings before they go live on the marketplace
• To generate valuation estimates using the tools you choose to use
• To respond to enquiries and facilitate contact between buyers and sellers
• To send account-related emails, such as email verification and password resets
• To maintain the security and proper functioning of the website

We process this information on the basis of your consent (for example, when you register or submit a listing), and to take steps at your request before and during the use of our services.

4. Financial documents and premium access

Where a seller uploads financial documents (such as management accounts or financial statements) as part of a listing, these documents are used only to verify the accuracy of the information in that listing. They are not published publicly.

Access to a listing's underlying financial documents is limited to buyers with a Premium membership. Outside of this, financial documents are used solely for internal verification purposes and are not shared with other users.

5. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers who help us operate the website, such as our hosting provider, email delivery provider, and payment processor, each of whom is only given the information necessary to perform their function.
• Other users, in a limited way: published listing details are visible to visitors browsing the marketplace, and buyer enquiries are shared with the relevant seller so they can respond.
• Legal or regulatory bodies, where we are required to do so by law.

6. How long we keep your information

We retain account and listing information for as long as your account remains active, or as needed to provide our services. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records by law.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted password storage, secure connections (HTTPS), and access controls limiting who can view uploaded financial documents. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

8. Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary for the website to function, such as keeping you logged in and remembering your session. We do not currently use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking. If this changes, we will update this policy and request your consent where required.

9. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

• Ask us what personal information we hold about you
• Ask us to correct inaccurate or outdated information
• Ask us to delete your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
• Object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you believe we have not handled your information properly

10. Children's privacy

Our services are intended for business owners and buyers who are 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.

We may update this policy from time to time as our services evolve. We will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. If changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention.
